Vinegar is often recommended as a natural cleaning solution, but when it comes to tile floors, the answer isn't always straightforward.
In a recent Southern Living article, I shared that vinegar can be a good option for some surfaces because it is low-residue and free from added fragrances, which can be helpful for people with sensitive skin and airways. However, the type of tile matters. Vinegar is generally safe for ceramic and porcelain tile but should be avoided on natural stone surfaces such as marble, travertine, and limestone, where its acidity can cause damage.

One of the most important reminders is that "the type of flooring matters." What works well for one surface may cause long-term wear on another. When in doubt, choose products specifically designed for your flooring material and always follow manufacturer recommendations.
Creating a healthier home doesn't always require harsh chemicals, but it does require using the right products in the right places.
